The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, Busoga Health Forum and Mukalu Leadership Consult will hold a three-day medical camp in Jinja.
The camp which will be held at Mpumudde Health Centre IV in Jinja from October 28- 30, 2026 seeks to support the underserved communities in the Busoga subregion by providing integrated healthcare services while creating an opportunity to advance insurance awareness and financial protection.
Organised under the theme “Know Your Health, Act Early, Live Better”, the camp will see the public enjoy free health services including medical consultations, HIV testing, screening for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and sickle cell, eye and dental clinics, blood donation, nutrition education for better health and insurance awareness, among others.
According to the IRA, communities in this subregion continue to face barriers including limited access to health services, high out-of-pocket costs and delayed diagnosis and treatment, adding that the camp will provide an opportunity to promote preventive healthcare, early detection and timely treatment.
Beyond healthcare, the initiative responds to the financial vulnerability that illness and unexpected health events can create for households.
