A model regulator of a secure and developed insurance industry


The new Board for the Insurance Training College has finally been constituted and inaugurated by the Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development Hon Matia Kasaija. The Board is the first of its kind since the Training College transformed from the Insurance Institute in Uganda (IIU).

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija challenged the new board to spearhead the realization of the mandate of the college in the new dispensation as a public institution, enhance public education and awareness about the value of insurance so as to drive the uptake of the service by many people.

“As the first board of ITC, you have a great challenge but also an opportunity to offer the best platform to showcase skills, knowledge and ability to build the capacity of Ugandans in the insurance space. You should develop the Insurance Training College and I expect you to exercise maximum integrity and execute your mandate well” Minister Kasaija told the new board.  

The board is chaired by seasoned insurer Ronald Zake who promised the board’s commitment to work hard and increase insurance penetration and professionalism in the industry.

Other members of the board include; Musa Lukwago representing the Ministry of Finance, Dr Abdul Hafiz Walusimbi an educationist representing the public, Mr. Sande Protazio the IRA representative, Jane Kyarisiima Mwesigwa  representing the Ministry of Education and Sports, and Kiyingi Josephine representing the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs
