The Executive leadership of the Uganda Insurance Agents Association (UIAA) paid a courtesy visit to the IRA CEO and shared its road map.

The UIAA Chairman, Mr. Ivan Turyamusiima said that his leadership will focus not only on ensuring a disciplined agency force getting its due share from their efforts but also on empowering members to be independent financially. To this end, the Association seeks to revisit its code of conduct, pursue more rigorous engagements with the Principals and the Regulator, register their membership with the Workers Union and also start an Agents’ SACCO for its members.

Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega the IRA CEO applauded the Executive for the road map presented. He noted that the increase of agents this year to about 2500 agents should be used to their advantage arguing that there is strength in numeric. He advised them to explore opportunities to build more capacity for the members to overcome some of the challenges, such as underselling, that have been occasioned by capacity gaps. The CEO also assured IRA’s support in the registration of the agents.

It was agreed at the end of the meeting that IRA would write a letter to the insurance companies emphasizing payment of Agents membership fees to the Association to facilitate execution of their roadmap.
