IRA LAUNCHES EXTERNAL CLIENTS SERVICE CHARTER

As a way of ensuring that the public receives timely and quality services, the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) has launched the external Clients Service Charter which spells out the rights and obligations of all clients to the Authority.

According to the IRA Chief Executive Officer Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, the charter now creates a level playing ground by treating all clients equally and fairly.

This therefore means that every stakeholder counts when it comes to decision making especially in regards to industrial developments and review of pertinent laws and regulations.

“We shall ensure that we continue to consult all relevant stakeholders in all matters that affect them and the insurance industry at large”, said Alhaj Kaddunabbi.

According to the IRA Board Chairman Dr. Isaac Nkote, this is a move in the right direction and IRA clients now have a document to refer to whenever they feel they are not receiving the kind of service they deserve.

“This is equivalent to a new commitment to the public and it shall be followed to the latter”

The clients referred to in this charter are external clients including licensed players, Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, private sector institutions, professional bodies, academia, development partners, media, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, and the general public at large.
