Through its social investments, the Authority addresses the needs of communities through sustainable initiatives in the areas of healthcare and reducing child mortality, education, environment conservation, road safety, community development and response to natural calamities.

In March 2020, the Authority received a request for support with a solar system for the operating theatre at Hamurwa Health Center IV in Rubanda District. The request highlighted that in the year 2018/2019, the Centre had operated 45 mothers giving birth in the theatre but more than 60 mothers had been referred to Kabale Hospital especially at night due to lack of alternative power supply.  It is in this vein, that a 500-Watt Solar System was supplied and installed at the Centre to enable the doctors and nurses carry on their work smoothly without any interruptions during the operations.

The In-charge at Hamurwa Health Centre IV Dr. Stuart Turanzomwe appreciated and commended IRA for the financial support of supplying and installing a solar system for the Operating Theatre at Health Centre. He informed the audience that the facility serves over thirteen thousand people from Rubanda East, Kanungu, and the surrounding communities and offering support to over one hundred child-delivering mothers on a monthly basis.

Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, the Authority’s CEO appreciated the community for the warm welcome received as IRA team at the facility. “We considered the Solar System because we believe that the true and full measure of our success and progress is best reflected in the difference that our operations and contribution make to the lives of other people.”

The event was graced by Resident District Commissioner, District Member of Parliament, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, and Mayor of the Town Council, District Medical Officer, District Councilors and staff for Hamurwa Health Centre and the community.
